Metamorphosis
This painting was inspired by a copse of banana plants in Waikiki. There were no bananas or flowers, but the shoots themselves glowed in blues, golds, blacks, greens, even a little bit of orange. Their energy captured my imagination and I took at least a dozen photos before continuing my walk.
Later in the studio I sketched out my favorite pieces from the various photos, mixing and matching to create a composition.
Life is like that. We see or hear something that triggers an emotion or thought within us. These “rabbit trails” can lead us to the most interesting places. But first we must be aware enough to catch ourselves in the act of noticing the world around us.
Our growth and metamorphosis depends upon our awareness of self and of our world. Happy metamorphosis or transformation to you!
