Where Heaven Meets the Earth
The big island of Hawai`i feels like the place Where the Heaven Meets the Earth. Majestic, mythical, and magical all describe this special island.
Hawai`i Island is the largest of the Hawaiian Islands — all of the other islands combined could fit inside it with room to spare.
Kilauea, the often-active volcano, adds the true feeling of life force energy to the island. Pele, the Goddess of the volcano, is palpable.
The night skies are dark, lit mostly by the stars because there are so few towns with a small number of roads connecting them.
On my last trip to Hawai`i, I heard — not felt — an earthquake. I’ve felt plenty of them, but this was the first time I actually heard one. It sounded like a “mac truck” had slammed into a large building. That’s the sound of the tectonic plates butting up against one another. That’s P-O-W-E-R!
