Honu Connection

Honu Connection

from $45.00

Green Sea Turtles (known as honu in Hawai`i) have been protected in the US since 1978. Because of this protection, they have lost their fear of people, and are often seen on our beaches. This is not true at other South Pacific islands.

Turtles are known to be good navigators because of their ability to get back to shore. Some native peoples see the turtle as a powerful symbol for mother earth.

Many people feel a special connection to the Honu. In a world where size is often a symbol of might or evokes fear, it’s nice to know these gentle giants live peacefully in and around the ocean. Perhaps their peaceful nature is the real source of our feeling connected to the honu.
