The yellow hibiscus is portrayed in this original watercolor. One strain of yellow hibiscus is Hawai‘i’s state flower. Although each bloom lasts but a day, they are known for more than their beauty alone. The hibiscus can be a source of food, tea, fibers, wood, dyes, perfumes, and medicines.
Several bushes of yellow hibiscus grow near my house, greeting me on my morning walk. They offer a smile to me whenever I see them. I hope this reminder of the Hawaiian sun brings a smile to your face, and puts a lilt in your step every time you see it.
