This painting is part of my Oracle Series. Oracles were once sought out as a source of wisdom and advice. All of my paintings act as teachers; I learn something about myself and my life while painting. Perhaps they can also teach you something about yourself and your life, and in that way, be your oracle too.
The trees in Hawai‘i are so sculptural, I often see figures in their trunks as I drive down the streets or walk through the parks. Before I started this painting, I emailed my collectors & fans, asking them to send their autumn leaves to me. Their response was heartening, and is evident in the canopy of this tree. The varieties of maples and gingko are the most easily visible, and the outpouring of love shows through in the trunk.
